![]() ![]() There's a company (Meniscus Audio) right here in town that are very helpful in putting a system together, just had them design a modeling.c I know this because my present home built speakers are solid Cherry and have developed a couple of small splits, they haven't had the necessary periodic refreshing of oil finish. Cherry, though very stable in service still can split over time if not kept up on. Then more MDF or plywood, maybe even solid hardwood like Cherry. Still contemplating what materials to make the cabinets from, considering using a laminate of MDF, something sound absorbent, sand, concrete, rubber, etc. That's okay though, I'm not in too much of a hurry as all this costs money, these will take time to accumulate everything that I need. I have a thread I started in the DIY section called 'Starting With Planars' if anyone has some pointers or advice, so far it hasn't attracted any attention. I have a set of the larger Dayton pt6 Planars in my present home built speakers and they're a bit soft but the Mini's need to be backed down a bit, I suspect that the lower output of the pt6's is probably within the crossover because they both have high sensitivity. ![]() I may decide to use an array of them in my dream speakers, but will likely go with something better, though these aren't too shabby.Īlso am contiplating making wood horns for the planars as well, but listening to these I'm not sure if they really need it.
